Plate link belts are extremely robust, positively driven chain-edged belts designed for medium to heavy-duty applications. They are made from a series of castellated plates that are notched, tipped, and rolled to form hinged slats. These slats are connected by cross-rods that pass through the hinges and corresponding side chains, creating a continuous flat conveying surface. Side-plates and cross flights can be added as needed, particularly for transporting products up an incline.
These belts are ideal for harsh and demanding applications in various engineering processes such as die-casting, presswork, scrap removal, component handling, swarf and chip removal, heat treatment, cooling, drying, recycling, and cryogenic freezing.
Plate link belts are available in materials such as mild steel, galvanized mild steel, and stainless steel. The slats can also be treated with additional surface finishes like bright zinc plating and Teflon coating if required. The belts come in standard pitches ranging from 1.25” (31.75mm) to 9” (228.6mm) and thicknesses from 1.2mm to 6mm.
A variety of side-chains are available, depending on the application, ranging from 1.25” (31.75mm) transmission chains to 24,000 lb conveyor chains. These side-chains are secured by a split pin and washer, allowing easy dismantling for maintenance, or a welded washer selvedge.
